Polestar 5 and Polestar 7 Announced

Polestar 5 and Polestar 7 Announced

Polestar, the Swedish EV brand born from Volvo in 2017, continues its rapid expansion with the announcement of two exciting additions to its lineup: the Polestar 5 and Polestar 7. These models highlight Polestar’s push toward innovation and performance, while cementing its position in the growing electric vehicle market.

Polestar 5: A Grand Tourer with 'Cutting-Edge' Performance

Scheduled to launch in the second half of 2025, the Polestar 5 is a luxury four-door grand tourer inspired by the stunning Precept concept first revealed in 2020. Built on Polestar’s bespoke bonded-aluminum platform, the 5 marks a departure from the shared platforms seen in earlier models. With its dual-motor setup delivering 884 horsepower and a 103.0-kWh battery promising over 300 miles of range, the Polestar 5 is set to be a performance powerhouse.

Adding to its impressive credentials is an 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling faster charging times and greater efficiency. This model represents Polestar’s ambition to blend cutting-edge technology with sustainability and luxury.

Polestar 7: A Compact SUV with Big Potential

Polestar has also unveiled plans for the Polestar 7, a compact SUV positioned below the Polestar 3. While the Polestar 4 already occupies the compact-crossover space with its coupe-like design, the Polestar 7 is expected to adopt a more traditional SUV shape.

Production of the Polestar 7 will take place in Europe, expanding the company’s manufacturing footprint beyond its current facilities in China, South Carolina, and South Korea. Although details on the Polestar 7’s specifications and launch timeline remain scarce, this model represents a significant shift for Polestar as it plans to unify its lineup under a single platform architecture starting with this vehicle.

Refining the Lineup

Polestar’s numerical naming strategy, which follows the sequence of model launches rather than vehicle size, may cause some confusion, but the brand’s direction is clear. Alongside the Polestar 5 and 7, other models like the Polestar 6, a sleek sports car inspired by the O2 concept, promise to broaden the brand’s appeal further.

With this ambitious product roadmap, Polestar is solidifying its position as a leader in innovative, performance-focused EVs. The Polestar 5 and 7 signal an exciting future for the brand, offering something for both luxury grand tourer enthusiasts and SUV lovers alike.
