Polestar Unleashes the Ultimate Ice Drifters: Arctic Circle Edition!
Remember the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle? That rally-inspired, studded-tyre snow beast from 2022? Well, it’s no longer a lone wolf. Polestar has doubled down on its frozen obsession and rolled out Arctic Circle versions of the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4. The result? A complete trio of ice-ready, one-off machines that take Scandinavian performance to the extreme.
These bespoke builds will make their grand debut at the 2025 FAT Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria, on February 1st. That’s right, Polestar’s not just making EVs, they’re making EVs that can slide, drift, and carve through snow like finely tuned rally machines.
Built for the Ice, Born from Motorsport
Polestar’s CEO, Michael Lohscheller, is keen to remind us that these cars aren’t just for show. “The Arctic Circle collection illustrates our unique performance DNA, rooted in motorsport and combined with Scandinavian design,” he says. “We develop our cars under challenging conditions within the Arctic Circle in Sweden, and at the FAT Ice Race we will showcase that on ice there is nothing better than a Polestar.”
Sounds bold? Maybe. But with a rally-bred chassis guru like Joakim Rydholm at the helm — who has spent over 30 years in motorsport and stacked up multiple Swedish rally podiums — Polestar has the credentials to back it up.
The Formula: More Height, More Grip, More Fun
So, what makes an Arctic Circle Polestar different from its tarmac-loving siblings? Think raised ride heights, bespoke 3-way adjustable Öhlins dampers, and specialised Pirelli studded tyres. The OZ Racing wheels? A world-first look at the brand-new ‘Rally Legend’ design. And if that’s not enough, each car gets Quad Evo front spotlights from Stedi and bucket seats from Recaro. Proper rally spec.
And because every rally hero needs its gear, Polestar has kitted these cars with accessories like skis, roof racks, storage solutions, and recovery equipment.
Ready to Slide
Taking the fight to the ice, these Arctic Circle specials give us a glimpse of what Polestar can do when the brief is ‘make it fun, make it fast, and make it look ridiculously cool.’ Will we ever see something like this in production? That’s anyone’s guess. But one thing’s for sure: the FAT Ice Race is going to get a whole lot more electrifying this year!

Excellent news. How does one go about ordering specialized rescue hooks as those in the front here?
