Volvo's 2025 EVs to Include Tesla Supercharger Adapter, Expanding Charging Options for Owners

Volvo has announced that starting with its 2025 electric vehicle models, (North American) owners will receive a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter, enabling access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. This adapter will come included with every 2025 Volvo EX90, EX40, and EC40 purchase, expanding charging options for Volvo EV drivers.

For owners of older Volvo EVs, the NACS adapter will be available for purchase at $230 from authorized dealerships, with shipments beginning November 18. Volvo is following a trend in the automotive industry as many carmakers plan to shift to NACS ports. However, full integration will take time, so adapters will help owners of EVs with the older CCS-style ports to connect to Tesla’s network in the meantime.

The 2025 Volvo models will be equipped with the NACS adapter, which offers access to over 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations across the U.S. and Canada. For those considering the Volvo EX30, the automaker has stated that further details on adapter availability will be shared soon. Originally planned for 2024, the EX30's U.S. release was pushed back to 2025 due to tariffs on EVs manufactured in China. Volvo plans to start deliveries sometime next year.

Volvo’s electric-only brand, Polestar, has also announced that its customers can access Tesla’s Supercharger network with a similar adapter. Polestar owners can order the adapter through service centers, with deliveries expected in mid-November. In the future, both Volvo and Polestar models will include standard NACS ports, further aligning with the charging infrastructure established by Tesla.
